Healing from Childhood Emotional Neglect Starts Here

“It’s never too late to heal from Childhood Emotional Neglect and live the life you want.”

Are you ready for a change?

Perhaps you’ve seen a therapist (or 3!) and while they were helpful, you don’t feel like they really got to the ROOT of the issue, and you’re wondering if trying therapy again will be more helpful this time.

Maybe you’re a complete newbie to therapy and unsure of (or even skeptical!) of the who therapy thing, but feel like you need to do something - ANYTHING - to not feel like this anymore!

Or you just discovered CEN, and it finally put words to what you’ve been experiencing your whole life and you’re wanting to work with a CEN-trained therapist to learn what to do about it now.

Regardless of where you are at, rest assured that starting therapy or coaching with me is the LEAST stressful part!

Get started in 2 steps:

1. Schedule a free 20-minute video consult. Click on the button below to access the online calendar and schedule your consultation. The purpose of the consult is to help you gather the information you need to determine if working together matches what you’re looking for.

2. If it’s a good fit, schedule your first therapy or coaching session using the same online calendar

Teletherapy for Childhood Emotional Neglect

With work, kids, bad weather, your mood, stigma of mental illness, a pandemic, etc., it can be difficult to get to therapy at times. Teletherapy via confidential online video conferencing can eliminate many of these barriers, and be just as effective as traditional in-person therapy! All you need is a computer with a microphone and camera, a private spot to sit (with a yummy cup of coffee or tea perhaps) and you're ready for therapy anywhere.

Getting started with telehealth

I use SimplePractice, a HIPAA-secure telehealth platform to conduct sessions.

  1. When you request an appointment time and it is approved, you will receive an email confirmation that includes the link to join session.

  2. Once you are ready to start your session, click on the link and it will automatically connect you to your session.

Reduced Fee Option

I do not want money to be a barrier between you and the care you want, so if you are experiencing financial hardship, I offer a limited number of reduced fee options. The amount will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Please contact me directly for more information.

I use a company called Alma to manage all insurance-related tasks so that I can focus on our work together. Alma manages everything on the insurance side to make things as easy as possible for you.

Please note that all insurance sessions are the client’s responsibility. You may have co-pays and/or deductibles to meet, or other out-of-pocket-expenses depending upon your individual coverage.

Insurances accepted:

  • Aetna

  • Oscar

  • United Healthcare

*Effective 7/1/2023 - Important note about Couples/Family therapy sessions:

As of July 1, 2023, all couples and family therapy sessions will be held via my private practice and therefore billed at private pay rates. If you participate in one of the insurances that is on my accepted insurances list, but wish to meet for couples/family therapy, we can still work together! Just know that the private pay rate for couples/family sessions will be applied.

Payment:

If choosing private pay, I can provide receipts upon request if you would like to submit them to your insurance company for reimbursement. I accept payment via credit card, Health Savings Account, or Flex Spending Account. I use a service called Ivy Pay to easily and confidentially process payments. To confirm your first appointment, a credit card/HSA/FSA card will be required to be placed on file. Payment is due at the start of each session. Below are several key benefits for paying out-of-pocket for mental health services:

  • Increased Privacy: Paying out-of-pocket keeps your protected health information (PHI) protected as I do not have to disclose personal information about you, or give you a diagnosis that could be viewed by anyone processing your insurance claims, or your employer; this eliminates the chances of your PHI/diagnosis being used against you.

  • High Deductible Insurance Plan or Limited/No Mental Health Coverage: If you have a high insurance deductible, you may have to cover up to the entire cost of therapy out-of-pocket. In addition, some insurance plans do not cover mental health services, which means out-of-pocket payment is still necessary.

  • More Flexibility and Personalized Treatment: You are not limited in your therapist options as you may be with an insurance plan, which often has a limited number of in-network providers. In addition, many insurance plans only allow a certain number of sessions per week and/or year, and have limits on the type of therapy that is covered (i.e. only 8 sessions are allowed per year, or individual therapy is covered but family therapy is not covered).

Cancellation/No-Show Policy:

Cancellations: All cancellations and rescheduling must be done prior to 48 hours from your appointment. Cancellations made outside this 48-hour window of your session can be done using my online calendar.

Cancellations within 48 hours must be made via email (katie@connecttherapymn.com). If the notice falls within this time period and the time slot has not been filled either by you or another client, you will be charged a late cancellation fee that is equal to the amount of the session. There may be exceptions to this policy in extreme circumstances (i.e. death in the family, serious injury) that will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

No-Shows: Fee equal to full session amount is automatically applied to all no-shows and must be paid before the next session.

No Surprises Act - MN Legal Notice

  • Your appointment is scheduled 3 or more days in advance and

  • You will not be using insurance to pay for the visit, or you do not have insurance.

You may also request an estimate if one is not automatically provided.

The Good Faith Estimate will include the expected charges of the item or service, such as: the cost of the non-emergent clinic visit, plus any tests, procedures, and supplies.

As a service to you, we provide a fee schedule for all of our patients to view so they know the Good Faith Estimate for all services:

90837 – $140 Individual Therapy Session, 55 min
90847 – $160 Couple/Family Therapy Session, 55 min

Make sure to save a copy or photo of your Good Faith Estimate. If you receive a bill from us that is at least $400 more than your estimate, you can dispute it. This must be done within 120 calendar days of receiving the bill.
