Childhood Emotional Neglect Therapist & Coach

Mom to “The A-Team”

Extroverted introvert + nighthawk who never finishes a cup of coffee

Passionate about helping you heal + crush generational cycles

Tim, a fellow 4th grader whom I hardly ever spoke to, stood in my path after math class one day, stared me down with a cocky look on his face, and, completely unprovoked, told me: “You’re ugly.”

Sadly, this isn’t the sad part of the story. The sad part was my response, which was to simply look down at my tie dye slip-on shoes and quietly say, “I know.”

The second saddest part of this story is that I never told my parents; I kept it to myself because that felt safer to me.

See, at the age of 9, I already learned:

  • I was ‘less than’

  • That my voice didn’t matter

  • To keep quiet, even if I didn’t like something or I was being hurt because speaking up often made things worse for me, not better

Looking back at my younger self, my heart breaks for her - not just in this moment, but in all the moments that led up to it, because it reflected years of being made to feel small. By my own parents.

I believe my mom tried in some ways, and failed in others - ways that I now realize mattered most.

It wasn’t my mom’s intention, though; her parenting was just a reflection of a time and society that was largely uninformed.

Yet the impact of these experiences left me with emotional scars so deep (and hidden even from me for years!) that it significantly and negatively impacted how I moved through life until my mid-20’s when I chose to do the work to heal from my past.

Now as a mom of 3, I am determined that my kids (and ALL humans!) not only get what they need to realize their worth but also feel empowered to use their voice and live life fully without holding back!

What to expect when working with me

  • I use an attachment-based lens and believe our past greatly impacts our present, so expect discussion about your childhood experiences and how they are affecting you today

  • I am trained in child and emotional development and provide education on what is necessary to create optimal development in these areas

  • I’m action-oriented and skills based. This means I often share feedback, guide sessions and provide skills teaching/coaching.

  • Therapy with me is an ongoing partnership! I check in regularly to ensure our work together continues to be beneficial for you.

How I differ from other therapists

  • I’m direct and action-oriented, meaning that while I do work hard to build rapport and create safe, emotional space for my clients, I’m often told that I provide more direction and feedback than other therapists

  • I educate my clients on topics like emotions, coping skills, relationships, and parenting as many of us do not learn this growing up

  • I assign homework/action steps in between sessions. This is how new habits are created and maintained!
