Why work with a therapist trained in Childhood Emotional Neglect?

Hi and Welcome!

My name is Katie Egge and I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist & Coach in Minnesota. I have over 10 years of experience providing individual, couple, and family therapy/coaching + support groups for people all over the world who have experienced Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN). The impact that CEN has on their ability to cope, communicate, and connect with themselves, others, and their life can be devastating and lifelong if left untreated.

The common symptoms of CEN - such as anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, or emotion dysregulation, oftentimes become the primary focus of therapy. While these are important to address, this also means that the root issue of CEN often goes undetected and untreated…UNLESS you work with a therapist like myself who is trained in treating CEN.

The challenges my clients face stems from not getting what they needed from their parent growing up. This means that they often struggle to identify what they DO need in order to heal from CEN (and, in some cases, prevent it with their own child). That’s where my CEN training comes in as I can help you identify what was missing and needs to be healed, and also help you re-connect with yourself in order to understand and know who you are and identify the changes you need to make in order to take back control of your life.

How to work with me in 3 steps:

STEP 1

Click on the “Schedule a Free Consultation” button to schedule your free, 20-minute virtual consultation. Once your appointment time is confirmed, you’ll receive a link via email to join your consultation.

STEP 2

When it’s time to meet, use the link to join your session. The consultation is simply a conversation to get to know each other a little more to help determine if working together will be a good fit. Topics covered typically include: reason for starting therapy/coaching, what type of therapist you’re looking for, logistics such as scheduling, frequency of sessions, payments accepted, and any other questions and concerns you have.

STEP 3

If it’s determined that working together would be a good fit, I’ll send over the intake forms for you to complete and submit electronically. Then all you need to do is schedule your intake appointment with me using my online calendar, and that’s it; you’re all set to go!
